The Department of Commerce was started in the year 1967 as a part of Andhra University Postgraduate Centre with 40 students in M.Com Course. In response to the Demand of the pubic and taking into account the socioeconomic needs of the region, the Department has increased the intake to hundred from the academic year 1975-76 later , when the PG Centre was started at Ongole the intake was reduced to 40. The course structure and syllabi of the M.Com Programme was designed taking the academic strengths of the institutions that took the lead in initiating M.Com in the country.
