MBA (Hospital Administration)

Acharya Nagarjuna University in collaboration with DR YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada has started a P.G. Program M.B.A. (Hospital Administration) during 2005-06 which is being run effectively with attractive placements for the students to meet the Healthcare Industry Requirement. Healthcare has become one of India's largest sectors, both in terms of revenue and employment. Healthcare comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, medical tourism, health insurance and medical equipment. The Indian healthcare sector is growing at a brisk pace due to its strengthening coverage, services, and increasing expenditure by public as well as private players.

India's healthcare delivery system is categorised into two major components - public and private. The government, i.e., the public healthcare system, comprises limited secondary and tertiary care institutions in key cities and focuses on providing basic healthcare facilities in the form of Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in rural areas. The private sector provides the majority of secondary, tertiary, and quaternary care institutions with a major concentration in metros, tier-I, and tier-II cities. As part of Medical Tourism many international patients also coming for healthcare service, there are numerous opportunities are available for MHA students in public and private healthcare organisations.

The Objectives of the MBA (Hospital Administration) Program:- The major objectives of the Program includes. 1. To develop highly qualified managers and administrators for the efficient management of hospitals in India and abroad; 2. To give necessary knowledge and skills with practical orientation which help in formulating strategies for more efficient management of multi-speciality hospitals; 3. To cultivate creativity and to develop better systems for effective delivery of healthcare services; 4. To impart knowledge, vocabulary and advanced skills to make administrators proficient; 5. To provide theoretical background of those academic disciplines which are related to the field of management in general, and those of hospital management in particular; 6. To develop leadership skills through understanding of organizational and community problems; 7. To create an urge for research in the field of hospital management, through involvement in actual operation of hospital administration and research methodology.
