Admission of Foreign students through SII Portal
The Study in India (SII) portal (www.studyinindia.gov.in) facilitates the foreign students to apply for admissions and receive offer letters from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) registered on the portal from the Academic year 2025-26, it is mandatory for all foreign students coming for higher studies in India to Register on the Study in India (SII) portal (https://www.studyinindia.gov.in/ admission/registrations) and generate an Unique SII ID. Students will only be granted Student visa & E-student Visa only if they have Unique SII ID. This Unique SII ID generated must be quoted in their visa applications. To proceed for their visa application process, they will have to apply via Indian visa portal. This SII ID will be the main tracking ID for foreign students from their complete student journey.
The University will follow the admission process of the foreign student after receiving the application registered for admission on SII portal including all necessary supporting documents. Upon confirmation of admission, student has to pay the prescribed fee to the University, then the foreign student is eligible for E-Student visa as well. The University’s confirmation of the student’s fee payment supports the visa verification process, without which student might not be granted the visa. Ministry of Home affairs (MHA) has introduced e-Student visa facility to foreign students who are eligible for S-1 and S-3 student visa as well as registered on SII portal. MHA has also introduced e-student X visa facility to the dependents of those coming under the aforesaid e-Student visa. For applying to visa online, follow the steps as under:
1. Visit the website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html and fill the required information details.
2. The student is required to fill all the details correctly as filled in the SII application form and pay the required/applicable visa fees.
3. Visa fees may be paid through online via Credit/Debit card/Payment Wallet.
4. Study in India ID (SII ID) is mandatory to apply for online student visa.
University guidelines for International Students’ admission
Admission for International Students into various programmes for academic year is as per the schedule below: (Tentative)
Documents required for admission
- Two certified copies of the marks sheet of the qualifying examinations (certified translated version in English)
• Two certified copies of the Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination (certified translated version in English)
- Two copies of the passport of the student.
- International students must bring all the original Certificates of qualifying examinations while reporting for final admission.
- All the International Students must undergo the medical examination and get the medical fitness Certificate. As per government rules, all international students entering India on Student Visa have to be tested for HIV and will not be given admission if found to be positive. All international students will be required to pay medical fees of US $ 50, which includes the medical fee covering routine medical needs of the students for the first year. For subsequent years the sum of the medical fees will be as decided by the university, from time to time. International students, whose qualifying examination is not in the English medium, or not passed TOEFL / IELTS must appear at the proficiency test in English as decided by the University or can apply for English Language Skill Development Training Program at International Students Cell, Acharya Nagarjuna University.
- Within a week of arrival to India, foreign students should register their names with the Police in the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the local Police Station.
• International students who are studying for full time programs in any other institution can be given admission into Part time / Correspondence courses only if they hold a valid visa for the duration of the part-time course. A separate visa is not required. They will have to pay the fees as applicable. Such students must approach the Director, International Students Cell for getting admission into Part-time / Correspondence Programs, if they meet the prescribed eligibility qualifications.
- The above rules will be applicable to all international students seeking admissions into the University. In case there are any differences on the interpretation of rules then the opinion of the International Students Cell will be final. The fees are liable for revision and students will have to pay the revised fees whenever applicable. On the points not specifically covered, the decision of the University authorities will be final.
Accommodation
- Accommodation: Hostel accommodation is available (without mess) with all modern amenities
in the University Campus for the International Students. If the students wish to have private
accommodation, the staff of ISC will try to help student in finding suitable accommodation in
private houses. Rents for the off -campus private housing vary, depending upon the locality and
facilities available. International Students Hostel (ISH) has 82 suites (rooms), each suite comprises
a large living room-cum-bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and spacious balconies. For community/
group cooking, separate kitchens and dining facilities are available. The suites are provided for
single or two or three student sharing, as well as for family accommodation. Director, ISC is Chief
Warden and there is a provision for Wardens from teachers for ladies wing and Gents wing.
- Financial Aid / Assistance: University does not have any provision for scholarships to
International students.
- Part-time Employment: International students should have the required financial resources
to cover all their expenses. Part-time employment is not available. The University rules do not
permit any international student to take up any job, part-time or full-time, while being on rolls as
a regular student.
- Indian Customs: Indian customs and practices are different from other countries in many
respects and international students are expected to respect them.
- Academic year: University academic year starts in June with the first year classes commencing
in July and ending in April.
- Examinations and Holidays: Annual examinations for year wise programs are held in March
/ April every academic year. The semester examinations are held twice a year, for the odd semester
in November/ December and for the even-semesters in March/April. Students have
first term holidays in October / November and summer vacation during May- June.
