The post graduate course in Sociology was started in Nagarjuna University on self-financing basis in the year 1992 in response to the demand from the public and affiliated colleges in the University area. The then Vice-Chancellor Prof. Y.C. Simhadri has taken the initiative to start the above course keeping in mind the need for post graduate programme and research in the above subject since the affiliated colleges were already offering the above course at under graduate and post-graduate levels. Since inception of this course for the last 9 years the students have been consistently getting good results and placements in NGO’s, industries, institutions and Govt. Departments. We have been arranging guest lectures by eminent scholars from various Universities and NGO’s and industries. The syllabi of the above course has been updated from time to time keeping in view the latest development in the subjects.
